What is Reconnect?

Reconnect is a student-led community focused on helping people build real friendships through phone-free social events.

Reconnect creates fun, welcoming spaces where conversation happens naturally. Our events are designed to make meeting new people feel easy, comfortable, and authentic.

Whether you’re looking for new friends, hoping to get more involved on campus, or interested in helping start something meaningful, we’d love to meet you.

Q: What kind of events do you host?

Picnics

Q: Do I have to become a leader?

No!

Anyone is welcome to attend the interest meeting and learn more. There is absolutely no obligation to take on a leadership role.

Q: Do I need experience?

No experience needed.

We’ll provide all the training and resources needed to start and run a successful Reconnect chapter.

Q: What if I just want to attend events?

No problem!

Most members simply come to events, make friends, and enjoy the space.

Q: What if I’ve never been to something like this before?

That’s exactly who Reconnect is for.

Many of our members come knowing nobody. Our events are intentionally designed to make meeting people feel natural and low-pressure.

Q: Is this only for freshmen?

No.

Students from every year are welcome.

Q: How often does the club meet?

We’ve found it works best for Reconnect chapters to host events every other week, though each chapter decides what works best for their campus.

Q: How long does the club meet for?

About 1.5 to 2 hours.

We’ve found that time flies at these events. Sometimes members end up hanging out with new friends for hours after the event is over.

About Reconnect

Reconnect is a growing network of student and community chapters creating spaces where people can enjoy connecting free from the distraction of our phones.

Reconnect is a movement that side-steps the cycle of shame we're used to hearing. One that claims the solution is to just use our phones less, and that it's our fault if we're "on our phones too much". We acknowledge that phones and social media are a legitimate part of most of our lives today and that’s no fault of someone’s individual behavior.

We shift the focus entirely onto creating environments that allow us to enjoy spaces where connection, making friends, and having fun flows easily and organically by collectively agreeing on the boundary of putting our phones down together.

Since launching, Reconnect has hosted 150+ phone-free gatherings, bringing together 1000+ unique participants and creating 5,000+ hours of phone-free connection.

Our mission is simply to make it easier for people to meet and spend time together while fully present.
